COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

Michael has been an active community leader for over 30 years with a track record coaching sports teams, youth groups, school and community groups and his own unswerving interest in music, choral groups, sailing, athletics, recreation, gardening and charitable groups.

 

 

Michael has, at various times, been:

  • West Vancouver Garden Club, President
  • North Shore Chorus, President
  • West Vancouver Band Association, Chair
  • West Vancouver Arts Council, Director
  • Western Residents Association, Director

 


CIVIC LEADERSHIP

 

Friendship GlobeDuring past years, Michael has represented his community at all levels and in most fields. His main passions are the environment and parks where he was Chair, Parks & Environment Committee, recreation where he was a member of the Recreation Facility Master Plan and lately heritage where he has been a very active member of the Heritage Advisory Committee. Michael also took a leading role in putting together the Winter Song Festival which showcased mainly choral activities each February. This festival will be expanded to grandstand a 10-day festival during the 2010 Olympics and beyond. Most recently, Michael was a member of the Ambleside Revitalization Committee.

 

 

Michael's wide variety of activities have centred around recreation, arts, municipal improvements and facilities. These include:

  • Fund to purchase Sylvia Tate art for Aquatic Centre, Chair
  • Heritage Advisory Committee, member
  • Winter Song Festival, Founding Director
  • Lighthouse Park Management Committee, member

  • Lower Caulfeild Advisory Committee, Chair
