Michael was elected West Vancover Councillor in 2008 and, as one of four new Councillors, joined a progressive elected team supported by an equally progressive senior management team.

Prior to 2008, Michael represented his community at all levels and in most fields. His main passions were, and still are, the environment and parks where he was Chair, Parks & Environment Committee, recreation where he was a member of the Recreation Facility Master Plan, heritage where he was a very active member of the Heritage Advisory Committee, and a member of the Ambleside Revitalization Committee. Michael also took a leading role in putting together the Winter Song Festival which showcased mainly choral activities in February 2005 to 2007.
Michael's wide variety of activities centered around recreation, arts, municipal improvements and facilities. These include:

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

 

Michael has been an active community leader for over 30 years with a track record coaching sports teams, youth groups, school and community groups and his own unswerving interest in music, choral groups, sailing, athletics, recreation, gardening and charitable groups.
