Michael's family

 

Michael has lived in West Vancouver since 1968, and in the same house at Sandy Cove since 1969. Michael's wife worked in the community as a ceramic artist until her retirement a couple of years ago. Their two children, Simon and Chloe, respectively live in Calgary and Nelson with their families. Michael and Jill have five grandchildren from five to eleven years of age.

Michael & JillMichael's active involvement in community and civic activities has provided him opportunity to meet West Vancouver residents representing a diversity of income levels, life experience and social backgrounds. As a Council member he is committed to embracing the input of the rich and diverse experience residents bring to our unique community in all municipal matters and activities.Michael believes everyone must feel their voice matters, whether it's in the decision-making process or simply seeking property or by-law information. He considers openness and transparency are essential in all municipal processes if Council is to truly serve and have credibility with its constituents. He is committed to doing all he can to ensure that the principles of the Official Community Plan (OCP) always provide the touchstone for the work and decisions of Council.

 

MICHAEL EVISON - BRINGING EXPERIENCE AND BALANCE

Michael is a FCCA Fellow, Chartered Association of Certified Accountants in the U.K. His career included positions in property development, forestry, as Vice-President, Westwater Hotel Inc. and President of Calibre Consultants Inc., a diversified company specializing in financing corporations. In 1990 he started Calibre Landscaping, an environmentally sensitive garden design and construction company.

Michael has a long history of involvement in conservation and at one time was Chair of the Coalition to Save Eagleridge Bluffs at Horseshoe Bay.

An astute businessman, Michael combines proven exceptional leadership and business skills with a background in finance. He understands the necessity of balancing solid financial planning with sensible resource management. He is firmly committed to the position that the retention of community character with fiscally responsible development can be achieved with solid planning based in creative and imaginative effort.
